Abstract

1. 1. Pellegrini-Stieda's disease is merely myositis ossificans which happens to occur in the tibial collateral ligament because of trauma at that point. 2. 2. Contrary to the impression given by the literature, the condition is quite common. 3. 3. Treatment should be conservative for early return to work. 4. 4. The presence of the calcification does not in itself constitute a disability, but should be considered as any other asymptomatic foreign body.
