Abstract

The National Literacy Movement launched by the Ministry of Education Culture is the responsibility of all of us, one of which is the literacy activists at the Learning House Sharing Room, Manokwari West Papua. Optimization of GLN implementation can be done by integrating local wisdom values. The integration of local wisdom values can be done by reading folklore and introducing local cultural diversity such as traditional houses, traditional games, as well as local culinary specialties. Storytelling is one of the methods used by literacy activists at the Learning House Sharing Room. In telling stories, literacy activists only rely on book donations from volunteers and donors. The books used are sometimes not in accordance with the context of the local wisdom of the children’s environment. The purpose of the PKM training to write children’s stories based on local wisdom is to empower literacy activists from to be skilled at making children’s stories and produce a collection of children’s stories that can be used as media in literacy learning according to the context of local wisdom in the child’s environment. The activity method used is training using an andragogy approach and contextual learning strategies. The training is carried out online using Zoom meeting application and e-mail for sending the work. The training was attended by 41 literacy activists. The training produced a collection of children’s stories based on local Papuan wisdom.
