Abstract
All papers published in this volume of IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science have been peer reviewed through processes administered by the Editors. Reviews were conducted by expert referees to the professional and scientific standards expected of a proceedings journal published by IOP Publishing.• Type of peer review: Double-blind peer review• Review criteria: Consistency with the conference scope; Technical content; Presentation style and clarity; Academic value.Each position was assessed with the 5 point grading scale. Manuscripts with one or more low (2 or 1) grades provided independently by both reviewers were considered irrelevant or poor. Those papers were whether rejected or returned for revision, depending on the editor’s decision. Normally, papers inconsistent with the scope were rejected without revision. On the contrary, papers with poor style were normally returned to the authors for revision. Provided revision had to be confirmed by the reviewers.Editors were in charge of communication with the authors and with the reviewers. Reviewers had an opportunity to communicate to the editor their comments on the paper.
