Abstract
Este trabalho é o resultado do início de um estudo sobre o escultor Pedro Ferreira. Embora seja autor de obras importantes, passa quase desapercebido na historiografia da arte baiana. Trata-se de artista que pertence ao tempo em que o neoclassicismo se impunha à cultura Ocidental, porém, ainda restavam, na Bahia, as práticas do período barroco, em especial a cópia dos grandes mestres renascentistas. Pedro Ferreira foi um desses artistas e teve como principal inspirador Murillo, da escola espanhola.
