The front page of the local newspaper has a new murder story on it almost weekly, and many of the victims and perpetrators are teens. Drs Cowell, Horstmann, Linebarger, and Meaker, while participating in the Child Advocacy Resident Education (CARE) track at the University of Rochester, decided to try to prevent violence in the community instead of just dealing with its consequences in the hospital. Their literature review revealed that the peak time children get into trouble is 3 pm to 6 pm and that the strongest predictor of teen violence is earlier aggressive behavior.
