Abstract

Poland, the Eastern European nation that has fought for centuries to maintain its identity amid seemingly countless invasions, might be the unlikeliest of nations to roll out the carpet to outsiders. But when it comes to medical care, this former Warsaw Pact nation is welcoming foreign input. Free from the yoke of communist oppression, the Polish people are wrestling with a new obstacle: severe economic depression worse than their days in the Soviet sphere.
