Abstract

George is the most exercised member of our board; he either reviews or has reviewed the most manuscripts of any of the members. This stems from his avocation which is biostatistics. But to this Editor, George provides more than just analysis of the numbercrunching of our authors. He surveys a report for its sense, its research design, and the logic that the authors bring to their discussion and conclusions, based on their data. George has received a large number of compliments and expressions of gratitude from authors, even when we have rejected a report. George received his MD degree from Washington University, St Louis, and then completed his residency at St Louis Children's Hospital. After a fellowship at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, in 1955, he entered private practice, later to join Mead Johnson Research Center, Evansville, Ind, as its director and vice president of clinical research.
