Abstract
The benign neoplasms of parotid glands in children are mostly pleomorphic adenoma and Warthin tumor is extremely rare. The differential diagnosis of Warthin tumor from mucoepidermoid carcinoma in pediatric cases before the surgery is often difficult and it is not easy to determine the surgical design. We reported an 8-year-old girl with Warthin tumor in left parotid gland. The m agnetic resonance imaging ( MRI ) of the mass revealed comparatively lower value of the apparent diffusion coefficient value, which suspected the Warthin tumor. She therefore underwent superficial parotidectomy via modified facelift incision. She has never suffered from facial palsy and Frey syndrome for 2 years after the surgery and the cosmetic result was satisfactory. It suggests that precise preoperative diagnosis is important because the surgery for pediatric cases with parotid gland neoplasm should be designed to remove the tumor completely with an adequate margin.
