Abstract

Background: Graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) represents a serious complication of allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) and commonly manifests in mucosal tissues, including female genitalia. While adult vulvovaginal GvHD (vvGvHD) is well characterized, pediatric vvGvHD is less studied. In children and adolescents, undiagnosed vvGvHD has resulted in severe complications including vaginal stenosis and hematocolpos. The study objective was to assess genital symptomatology, characterize findings of genital examination, and describe the incidence and treatment of vvGvHD in girls and adolescents after allogeneic HSCT.
