Abstract

Sacrococcygeal chordoma is a rare pediatric neoplasm that may be confused with the more common, and indolent, teratoma. The present report describes the diagnosis, treatment and early postoperative convalescence of a case of chordoma in an adolescent child. This case is contrasted to the sacrococcygeal teratoma, a familiar pediatric neoplasm, and the literature is reviewed with respect to presentation and treatment.
