Abstract

Bob Hanson, PharmD, BCPPS, FPPA will be the next President-Elect of PPA. Dr. Hanson is currently a NICU Clinical pharmacy specialist at The Children's Hospital at Saint Francis in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also the residency program director for the PGY1 at his institution. He completed a PGY1 residency at Saint Francis Hospital and a PGY2 residency at The University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He spent his first two years after residency working as the Pediatric Pulmonology Specialist at Children's Mercy Hospital and clinics, after which he worked as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatric Pharmaco-therapy, Department of Pharmacy at The University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy. Dr. Hanson has been involved with the development of a pharmacy driven pharmacokinetic monitoring service, NICU dosing weight protocol and served on the evidence-based medicine committee, in which he has helped develop clinical practice guidelines at his institutions. Since completing residency he has been the chair of the webinar committee, and the education committee where he organized the educational content provided at the 2016 PPA annual meeting. In 2015, he and his colleagues were recognized by PPA with a best practice award for their development of an outpatient on call service. He has been awarded the presidential citation from PPA in 2014 and 2016. He currently is the co-chair the Board Prep subcommittee.Drs. Jordan Burdine and Nicholas Fusco are the newly elected members of the PPA Board of Directors.Jordan Burdine, PharmD, MBA, BCPPS is a Pharmacy Clinical Practice Specialist in Neonatology and Pediatrics at University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Health in Galveston, Texas and a graduate of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy (TTUHSC-SOP, '15). She completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency at West Virginia University Medicine, followed by a PGY2 pediatrics residency at TTUHSC-SOP. She is a NICU specialist at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) and holds a faculty appointment with the UTMB School of Medicine. Since joining as a student and attending her first annual PPA meeting in 2013, Dr. Burdine has been passionate about the continued development and promotion of the organization. As a student, she founded the Texas Tech University Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group student chapter at TTUHSC-SOP and went on to join the PPA Membership Committee in 2016 as a resident. Her most recent contributions and service to PPA have been primarily through the PPA Membership Committee where she previously served as Chair and the current Editor-in-Chief of The Advocate. Through the Membership Committee, she has also contributed to the redefining of membership outreach through the newsletters and social media platforms, as well as, continued opportunities for mentorship and member engagement.Nicholas Fusco, PharmD, BCPS, BCPPS serves as Clinical Associate Professor and Vice-Chair for Education, Practice and Service at the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (UB-SPPS). He practices/teaches in acute care pediatrics and his scholarship focuses on the areas of pediatric infectious diseases and interprofessional education. Dr. Fusco has been a PPA member since 2012. He has been engaged in the Education Committee serving as Co-Chair of the Fall 2016 Meeting and Chair of the Spring 2018 Annual Meeting. He serves as the faculty advisor of the UB-SPPS student chapter of PPA. Additionally, Dr. Fusco has also been an active member in other professional pharmacy organizations including the Pediatrics PRN of ACCP and the Pediatric Pharmacy SIG of AACP.
