Abstract

This multiauthored text, published under the sponsorship of the Pediatric Section of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), represents a contemporary review of the unique problems associated with pediatric neurological surgery. It is the first attempt at a comprehensive treatment of the emerging subspecialty of pediatric neurosurgery since the second edition of Matton's textbook in 1969 and is a much needed and long-awaited work. The scope is wide and the authorship diverse. Each author has reviewed his or her special area of interest, providing the reader with a current and detailed commentary on nearly all aspects of pediatric neurosurgery. The book is generally well written and well organized. A good example of the content is the section on congenital spine problems.
