Abstract

Aim: To identify the causes of MIS-C based on the articles selected and also to include the direction of a correct diagnosis in order to better treat the cases. Methods: A systematic literature search was carried out using publications from the PubMed platform, selecting articles published in English. The documents selected included articles published in the period up to 2023. The keywords used were: "Pediatric Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome", "MIS-C" and "Inflammation", using the following syntax: (Pediatric Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome) AND (MIS-C) AND (inflammation). Results: From the search, 124 articles were found, of which 119 were excluded by consensus of the authors. The reasons for this were that they were not accessible in full (N=29), that they were eminently quantitative articles (N=37) and that they did not present data relating to the variables that were the subject of this study (N=53). After reading, five articles were chosen for the research. Conclusion: Early diagnosis is extremely important for urgent intervention and correct clinical management of patients. Given the high morbidity and mortality associated with MIS-C, there is a need for greater awareness of this condition among all health professionals, so that timely recognition and referral for supportive care can occur.
