Background Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality among children 0-18 years-old in the United States. An estimated 9,400 to 17,000 pediatric lawnmower injuries occur each year. Despite public education and safety regulation efforts, the incidence remains unchanged and contributes a large economic burden estimated at $90 million annually.
