Pediatric Kidney Disease

Abstract

The first edition of Pediatric Kidney Disease was an excellent reference book for pediatric nephrologists, pediatric residents, and medical students, but, as the years passed without update, its usefulness diminished. No other textbooks of pediatric nephrology have matched the comprehensiveness of the 1978 Pediatric Kidney Disease , not even the second edition of Pediatric Nephrology , edited by Holliday, Barratt, and Vernier and published in 1987. The long-awaited second edition of Pediatric Kidney Disease is also a fine, comprehensive, two-volume textbook. Hopefully, the third edition will be published in less than 14 years. As was true with the first edition, this textbook should be included in all medical school libraries, pediatric departmental libraries (if the department can afford its high price), and the personal libraries of pediatric nephrology fellows and pediatric nephrologists. For the academic pediatric nephrologist, of course, it will lack most recent references but can serve as a basis for
