Abstract

This article presents a review of conceptual and methodologic issues regarding the selection of pediatric functional outcome measures in clinical practice. Selected functional outcome measures, their technical and clinical merits, and state-of-the-art advances in instrument development are described. Suggestions regarding the use of functional outcome measures for improved clinical documentation, evaluation studies, and the establishment of multi-institutional outcome studies in pediatric rehabilitation are made.
