Abstract

Electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS) are of proven value in the diagnosis of acute and chronic neuromuscular diseases in children. With the use of electrodiagnostic studies, it is often possible to identify the disorder as one of nerve, neuromuscular junction, or muscle. The purpose of this article is to review the techniques of EMG and NCS in children and to describe an approach to the evaluation of focal and generalized neuromuscular disorders.
