Most ICD-9 codes do not vary regardless of the age of the patient. Evaluation and management (E&M) codes for acute care are not age specific, but preventive care visits are. However, there are some codes used only when coding a newborn visit with problems specific to an infant. Some immunization codes are specific for children under 8 years old.
