Abstract

The analyses of Jerônimo Osório’s Tratados de Nobreza Civil e Cristã, published for the first time in 1542, is related with the typical way of thinking of the Portuguese Humanism from the XVI century and the Discovery Era (XV and XVI centuries) that represented the modern configuration of State, Culture and Portuguese economy. The work was dedicated to the King’s brother, Dom Luís the infant. The book is an excellent example of the political philosoph y of Humanism in Portugal and its necessary pedagogy.
