Abstract

The effect of thermal contact resistance on heat processes dynamics at pulsed laser welding of metal sheets is studied on the base of 2D transient heat transfer model. The imperfect thermal contact is assumed to become perfect after remelting. This may induce strong local heat fluxes in the region of thermal barrier transformation, as a result local cooling and solidification may take place. The velocity and shape of melting front undergo sharp variations when it crosses the thermal barrier. The effect of thermal contact resistance on heat processes dynamics at pulsed laser welding of metal sheets is studied on the base of 2D transient heat transfer model.
