Abstract

A compact system for neutron generation based on a diode with the anode representing a lasergenerated plasma plume has been studied. The process of deuteron extraction from the anode is described using a mechanism related to the Langmuir oscillations at the plasma-vacuum interface, which provides good agreement with experimental data.
