Abstract

An analytic study of the effect of applied stresses on the emf of double electromagnetic-acoustic transformation (EMAT) has been performed for materials with positive and negative saturation magnetostrictions: calculations in the region of processes of rotation of spontaneous-magnetization vectors and simulation in the region of the processes of domain-boundary displacement. The results obtained are in satisfactory agreement with experimental data. The presented data allow the assumption that the main regularities of the EMAT behavior observed experimentally as functions of stresses at a polarizing field, which exceeds the field of the Villary point for steels, are associated not only with rotation processes but also with the effect of magnetostriction of the displacement processes.
