Abstract

Various aspects of historical development of family in Estonia in eighteenth and first half of nineteenth century are examined in this investigation of the nature of socio-economic changes in transition from feudalism to capitalism and simultaneous development of modern family in Estonia. The extent to which various factors contributed to structure of peasant households is discussed. Characteristics and household relationships of different peasant social strata are analyzed and role of nuclear family is considered. (EXCERPT)
