Abstract
Before cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation ocular biometry is performed as a standard procedure. From the biometric measures and the individual patient requirements an appropriate lens type is selected and the lens power is calculated based on a empirical/AI based, theoretical optical, or raytracing based calculation scheme. In this talk we give an overview on the most relevant calculation strategies and discuss the advantages and drawbacks of the most commonly used IOL power calculation concepts. Some systematic errors inherent to the calculation schemes and the clinical consequences are discussed.
