Abstract

Peak particle velocity (PPV) is the most basic and direct parameter of vibration event to connect with stress increment, so they are studied in this paper through statistics and analysis. The vibration events in underground coal mine can be divided into whole mine (WM) event, working face (WF) event and heading face (HF) event, and the WM event normally has the lowest dominant frequency and maximum PPV. Rock burst may occur when PPV causes its corresponding stress increment to reach the triggering value, and PPV should be used as monitoring index, rather than the only adopted post-processing indicators like event energy. The study also discussed about the relationship between event magnitude and PPV and their caused stress increment, which has important reference significance for mechanism study and early warning of rock burst.
