Abstract

As demonstrated by the U.N. forces which were sent to various places since World War II, smaller countries can make a great contribution to preventing a recurrence of local conflicts, to the maintenance of local peace and order, and to the stabilization of the local social, economical and political situation. If a future U.N. force1 sticks to the principle which the U.N. Emergency Force (unef) or the U.N. Operations in the Congo (onuc) adopted the principle that troops from the five permanent member countries of the U.N.
