Research Article| October 01 2020 “Peace Had Its Defeats”: Researching Civil War Veterans, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Insanity Brian S. Bradshaw Brian S. Bradshaw Brian S. Bradshaw graduated Summa Cum Laude from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, Illinois, in May 2018. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science in History and Psychology. This article was his senior project, and Brian was awarded the Kimball, McAfee & Riddleberger Award in Historical Studies and the Timothy P. Fischer Award in Historical Studies for his effort. Additionally, this article was presented in October 2018 at the Conference on Illinois History hosted by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
