Abstract

A sensitive photoelectrochemical method for the detection of Cd2+ ions was realized using Pd/ZnS/ZnO nanoparticle modified electrodes. The ZnS/ZnO bilayer material was prepared by hydrothermal method using nickel foam as the substrate then the three-layer nanomaterial photoelectric sensor was prepared using pulse plating method. Then, a series of electrochemical and photoelectrochemical tests were conducted to measure the electrochemical and photoelectrochemical properties. The test results show that the composite electrode has good electronic conductivity, improved photosensitivity, and a detection response range of 0.1 μM–100 μM for Cd2+ with good sensitivity and selectivity and lower detection limit compared with the conventional Cd2+ sensor.
