Abstract
Single crystals of Pd 5Sn 7 were synthesized from the pure metals by arc-melting with subsequent heat treatment in vacuum. The crystal structure of the Pd 5Sn 7 compound was determined and refined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It belongs to the novel structure type (space group C2/ m) and is the new binary stannide in Pd–Sn system.
