Abstract

In previous studies we have developed Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome of Angina Questionnaire (TCM-SAQ). In this study we would like to report the psychometric evaluation of TCM-SAQ-pbs, a subscale of TCM-SAQ. TCM-SAQ-pbs is a scale with 27 items and 3 dimensions. It was applied to a previous cohort study and a non-RCT study, and all data was derived from the former two studies’ first visit. In this paper we would evaluate the feasibility, reliability and validity. A total of 192 (69 male,123female) angina pectoris patients with the syndrome of phlegm and blood stasis was included in this study, the mean age is 65y. The longest filing time is 32mins (N=1) and the shortest is 5mins, the average is 10.72mins. And there is no ceiling or flooring effect of all the items. The reliability is evaluated by internal consistency and split-half validity used the Guttman module. The Cronbach's Alpha of the global scale is 0.871, and the disease dimension is 0.834, the phlegm dimension and blood stasis dimension is 0.755 and 0.802 respectively. Each of the item’ deletion will decrease the Cronbach's Alpha both of the global scale and the relative dimension. The split-half reliability is 0.808.The Spearman correlated coefficient(CC) was calculated to evaluate the construct validity ,the three dimension CC with the Global Sclae is 0.785(p<0.01), 0.655(p<0.01), 0.796(p<0.01) respectively. For the exploration factor analysis 3 main factors are extracted , the KMO value is 0.788, Bartlett test is significant (p<0.000).In disease dimension 5main factors is extracted, KMO is 0.805, Bartlett is p<0.000 .In the Phlegm dimesion 3 main factors are extracted, KMO is 0.681, Bartlett test p<0.000,In the blood stasis dimesion 4 main factors are extracted, KMO is 0.785, Bartlett p<0.000. According to the results, TCM-SAQ-pbs can be finished in about 10 minutes which can be easily accepted by the subjects and also has good reliability and validity.
