Abstract

A description is given of a public tool interface, the ESPRIT Portable Common Tool Environment (PCTE). The aim of the project was to define an interface for the software developed in ESPRIT and to provide a prototype implementation. The PCTE project produced several versions of the prototype implementation and has been used as the basis for several other projects.
