An overview is given of the results of three optimization programmes aimed at reducing the PCDD/F emissions of MWI-Amsterdam. Special attention was given to minimize the de novo synthesis in the first electrostatic precipitator (fly ash removal). Means to enhance the absorption of PCDD/Fs in the spray absorber were also investigated. Finally, the effect of adding Activated Carbon to the second scrubber is reported on.
