Abstract

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a syndrome characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, non-restorative sleep, fatigue, cognitive changes, and depressive and anxiety symptoms. There is a high prevalence of overweight in these patients, around 80%. Studies demonstrate common pathophysiological pathways between FM and obesity, such as dysfunctional eating behavior and altered dopaminergic neurotransmission. In this context, the contribution of non-pharmacological interventions, in order to rebalance the dopaminergic system, such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), are important.
