Abstract

The detection of impurities in transparent fluid films is an important problem in many industrial applications. An experimental software systems for spurious particle monitoring in flowing transparent fluid films is described. The system operates by building up and maintaining a reference frame against which the actual frame is compared to detect pollution particle. The system itself has been designed with PC-based applications in mind so that only a small amount of memory and a commercial frame grabber suitably interfaced with the PC itself are needed. Adaptive procedures achieve system reliability and flexibility, allowing the system to be introduced in different operating environments with minimal effort.
