Abstract

New computer systems architectures for multimedia messaging systems take adtantages of technological breaktroughs achieved recently in the areas of mass storage devices (optical disks), communications (high speed local area networks) and PC-based workstations (32-bit processor architectures and very high resolution bitmap displays). The goal of this project was to develop a prototype for the exchange of background information (images) and foreground information (graphical symbols and texts) as a part of interactive communications, during a conference session.
