Abstract
Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) remains the major cause of childhood blindness in developing countries. Visual prognosis in ROP can be improved if the patients can receive early treatment. Therefore, establishing a perfect prevention and treatment system is the key to reduce blindness rate caused by ROP. The situation of ROP in China is serious and the prevention of ROP remains inadequate. Therefore, the government and medical personnel should pay more attention to its prevention. It is necessary to set-up more prevention centers to screen, diagnose and treat ROP, as well as to afford disease propaganda and follow-up care. These centers can build collaborative relationship by means of professional networks to improve the prevention efficiency of ROP in China.
