Abstract

Maladaptive interactions between affect, thoughts and behaviour have been documented across diagnostic categories. Formal models of how affect, thoughts and choice interact have suggested a role for the subgenual cingulate cortex in mediating the influence of affect on the choice of thoughts, and on the response to psychotherapy.
