Abstract

An attempt has been made through this article to consolidate the state of research in the domain of pavement engineering with respect to usage of warm mix asphalt (WMA). WMA aims at reducing the mixing and laying temperatures of conventional hot mixes by incorporation of certain tools and techniques such that the quality of resultant mix is comparable or in some cases even better than the conventional hot mix asphalt (HMA). WMA helps in sustainable usage of construction materials for improving overall efficiency of materials utilization. Mapping of existing literature in this field has been done using quantitative analysis of bibliometric data of the published literature and insights are generated based on same. Webometric study is conducted for 1603 articles on the basis of publication chronology, document type, location of research study, journals, keywords, and authorship. This article would be beneficial as a stepping stone towards exploration of impact and potential of warm mix asphalt as a prominent method for pavement construction which has advantage of being sustainable and environment friendly as compared to traditional HMA.
