Abstract

The two pioneers never met. Very early, Paul Tillich discovered the “prophetic force from outside” of Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis which he made fertile in systematic and practical theology as well, promoting the psychology of religion and pastoral care. Tillich might have appreciated the relational issues of contemporaneous psychoanalysis as stimulating, too.
