Abstract

During the last ten years a great number of articles has been written about the unity of Paul's epistle to the Philippians.l) In some of them Phil. iii 2-iv 3 has been supposed to be a separate letter or part of a separate letter. This again has drawn attention to the problem of the unity and purpose of Phil. iii. In most commentaries it is accepted that in Phil. iii Paul directs himself against two or three groups of opponents.2) This supposition is not satisfying since the transition from one group to the other is not clearly demonstrable.
