Abstract

Despite advances in lipid-lowering therapies (LLT) and public health interventions, ischemic heart disease remains a leading cause of hospitalization and mortality in Canada. Differences in disease management between provinces may lead to variations in treatment outcomes for patients with similar diagnoses. The availability of large data sets from population-based health databases has enabled analysis of lipid management and goal attainment in patients with public coverage. The goal of this study was to describe treatment patterns and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) goal attainment in patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) from Alberta (AB) and Ontario (ON).
