Abstract

Although cervical cancer incidence is decreasing with improved screening, in 2009 in the United States 12,357 women were diagnosed with cervical cancer and 3,909 died from the disease as reported by CDC. The prevalence of cervix cancer was 247,711 in 2009 per the SEER database. Brachytherapy is critical to curative treatment in most cases. The purpose of this report is to analyze the patterns of care and the use of brachytherapy for cervix cancer in the United States.
