Abstract

Cervical cancer is the second most common malignancy among women in India, with an estimated 122,844 cases occurring annually, and the majority of cases presenting in advanced stages. A combination of external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) and brachytherapy are essential to achieve optimum local control rates. However, the patterns of care in cervical cancer management in India are diverse owing to the unequal distribution of cancer burden, treatment facilities and expertise. With an aim to understand radiation treatment practices including brachytherapy for cervical cancer we undertook a survey. The results of the survey form the basis of this report.
