Abstract

The article is focused on the issue of teaching master students the skills of working with scientific text. One of the main prerequisites to perceive the meaning of a specialized foreign language text optimally is to identify and understand its grammatical structures. However, the author claims that difficult grammar material should be presented as simplified constructs implying a certain standard model (template) of a particular grammatical structure; such models justify themselves in the light of achieving the general goal of obtaining the most complete and correct information. In cases of complicated grammatical constructions that are inherent to the scientific style, the most effective method is the so-called patterns (phrasal samples), or the method of models.
