Abstract

Sphere-like patterns arranged by radially-aligned In2O3 nanobelts were obtained via a simple chemical vapor deposition method. As-synthesized products were investigated by field-emission scanning electronic microscopy, transmission electronic microscopy and EDX spectra. The well-organized orientations of these nanobelts were ascribed to the interaction between dynamic micro-electromagnetic fields formed on indium droplet surface and the lattice vibrations in nanometer-sized In2O3 crystals. Further analysis showed that a small quantity of W impurities made a great difference in the formation of organized patterns.
