Abstract

Reduction in peak side lobe level (PSLL) in addition to null placement for antenna array can be achieved by optimizing the amplitude weights of the feeding current. The optimized weights are obtained through Genetic Algorithm solved with multiple linear constrains to achieve desired response. The algorithm is also shown to work for conformal antenna array with variable inter element spacing where conventional windowing techniques such as Taylor cannot be applied. Results show that the algorithm deals with null steering and reduction of PSLL simultaneously and it works for general planer antenna array. There is an achievement of 8dB lower PSLL through the proposed approach and a null depth of −92dB is achieved.
