Abstract

Possibilities for the implementation of pattern recognition in highly-integrated circuits are explored. As an example, a specific system for the recognition of handwritten letters is modeled. This model employs the basic operations of a cellular array of coupled devices for feature extraction, i.e. tesselation or the shifting of information between neighboring cells.
