Abstract

Objectives: Australian Indigenous population suffers from ischaemic heart disease with significant mortality and morbidity. This is the first reported study as far as the authors are aware of, directly comparing the lipid profile among the subgroups from the same location as confirmed by invasive cardiac investigations. Indigenous defines subjects of both Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander origins. The hypothesis was based on previous study (O’ Neal DN, et al. 2008), which identifies lower HDL and VLDL levels among Indigenous populations.
