Abstract
Multiplication of whole numbers is often defined in terms of addition. As numbers increase in size, however, the process of “additive multiplication” grows correspondingly cumbersome. The ordinary method of multiplication can likewise he tiresome for large numbers. Because of their symmetry, certain numbers may be easily and rapidly multiplied by “pattern multiplication.”
