Abstract

The considerations in the article concern the concept of patriotism – not only widely understood, but also not isolated from the range of contexts in which it may occur and which may condition its understanding (the contents that compose it). My reflections should lead to the verification of the thesis claiming that: the specificity of the history of the nation, its geographical and determined by the nature of culture place in the world condition the content contained in the concept of “love for the homeland”. These contents are therefore different in distinct nations, disparately felt, lived and expressed. The presentation of the broadly conditioned understanding of patriotism by Poles is connected with the manifestation of these facts in the practice of life and human biographies – here in the biographies of outstanding figures in the history of the Resurrectionist Congregation (CR): B. Janski, P. Semenenko, H. Kajsiewicz, W. Barzynski, and W. Zapala.
